Our RE Curriculum
As a Catholic school we dedicate 10% of our Curriculum weekly to teaching RE . This is supported by daily prayers; Morning, before and after lunch as well as our end of day prayer. Each class also has meditation after lunch every day. Each day is stated by a whole school assembly or a key stage assembly. If there is no assembly or Hymn practice we have in class reflection time and meditative moments. At the end of the week, each class also has pastoral time.
Our Scheme
As of September 2024 our EYFS and Key Stage 1 will be adhering to the new RED programme of study. These classes will come away from the Come & See scheme and will use the 6 branch approach, outlined in the RED.
Years 3-6 will follow Come & See for their RE curriculum. This covers 9 topics per year , 3 per term.Every year group has a different topic but they do come under the theme each term according to the season and liturgical calendar.
Come and See is an invitation to exploration and a promise of life for everyone.

World Religions
As part of RE and awareness , understanding ,respect and tolerance of other faiths we teach 3 world religions per year. Every Autumn we teach Judaism, the others (Islam, Sikhism ,Hinduism and Buddhism) are taught over a cycle .These are taught in the summer term. During some assembly times where religions are higher profile or have a prominent feast then we will explore the religions at these times as they are again relevant to life at that time and children are inquisitive. Eg, at times like Diwali or Ramadan. These are taught for 1 week each so in one academic year we have two world religions weeks.
Judaism is studied in Autumn Term by all year groups. Other world religions are studied on a two year cycle. (This will be adjusted for the academic year of 2024-2025 as EYFS and KS1 begin to embed branch 6 of the RED curriculum)
Please see our class pages for each classes RE knowledge organiser including the key vocabulary and scripture for each unit of work. If you have any further questions, as always please speak to a member of the team who will be happy to help
